Sweet Nothings. Notes & Texts by Marlene Dumas
In 1998, a selection of the writings by Marlene Dumas appeared in Marlene Dumas, Sweet Nothings. Notes and Texts, published by Galerie Paul Andriesse and De Balie Publishers Amsterdam. Working closely together with the artists, I contributed to the selection of the texts and took care of the editing. The choice, arrangement and presentation of the material are elucidated in the back of book. Gabriele Götz took care of the design.
This is the second (revised and expanded) edition that was published in 2014 by Koenig Books London. The reason for this renewed edition was a series of consecutive solo exhibitions by Marlene Dumas in, among others, the Tate Gallery London. There was still a lot of interest in her writings, even though the first edition had been sold out for years. Moreover, Dumas continued to write in the period between 1998 and 2014, often about the work of others. On Others is therefore the title of the supplementary section.

In 1998 verscheen een selectie van de teksten van Marlene Dumas in Marlene Dumas, Sweet Nothings. Notes and Texts, uitgegeven door Galerie Paul Andriesse en Uitgeverij De Balie Amsterdam. In nauwe samenwerking met Marelen Dumas heb ik meegewerkt aan het maken van een keuze uit het omvangrijke archief, en verzorgde ik de redactie. De selectie, indeling en presentatie van het materiaal worden achterin het boek toegelicht. Gabriele Götz verzorgde de vormgeving.
Dit is de tweede - herziene en uitgebreide - editie die in 2014 werd uitgegeven door Koenig Books London. Aanleiding voor deze uitgave was een serie solotentoonstellingen van Marlene Dumas in onder meer de Tate Gallery London. Nog altijd was er veel interesse voor de teksten terwijl de eerste editie al jaren was uitverkocht. Bovendien schreef Dumas in de periode tussen 1998 en 2014 verder, veelal over het werk van anderen. On Others is dan ook de titel van het aanvullende katern.
